This auction is for:
1911 National Boat and Engine Company Stock Certificate
Incorporated in Maine, the company was a merger of several companies, including the Racine Boat Manufacturing Company of Racine, Wisc. and Muskegon, Michigan, Truscott Boat Manufacturing Co. of St. Joseph, Michigan, Pope Boat Works, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. The idea was to create a General Motors of the boating world. The headquarters was in Chicago with showrooms in NY City and multiple factories in Wisconsin and Michigan. It doesn't appear that the combined operation lasted very long. The stock is an amazing piece with a large vignette including a grisly looking sea captain at center, a ship on the left and a boat engine room on the right. Just a beauty of a stock! Hand-signed by company President W.J. Reynolds. Issued to J.G. Rose for one share on April 25, 1911. Extremely rare and scarce, only a few are known to exist.
