Description
A pair of beautiful and unusual finely carved Chinese bamboo brush pots with original lids. The body is carved in high relief from a single piece of bamboo to depict scholars within a bamboo grove. The carving appears to have been done in a manner to add rich color and depth to the piece. There are small, thin pieces of bamboo intricately carved and positioned to arch over and to recede behind the figures, rendering interest and character to the piece. Wonderful to discover a pair of finely carved matching brush pots with the original lids still in place.

Identification
Not marked; believed to be 19th century
Condition
In good overall condition. The pattern is detailed and the pieces have nice color. The lids are in good condition, with one showing some separation along the edge and resulting lines along the interior. There is one small chip edge at the top of one of the pots; otherwise, the minor imperfections are consistent with age and making.

Combined shipping is available on multiple purchases, if items are purchased within the same day (or close proximity) and can be reasonably packaged together for shipping (e.g., in the same box or same number of boxes).   If you are considering multiple purchases and still shopping, please let me know so that I can try to save costs by shipping items together, when possible.
