Description
This is a COOL piece of Atlanta history!It’s a Vintage GEORGIA MILITARY ACADEMY
(now Woodward Academy) Sweetheart Pendant by Balfour of Attleboro, MA.
The Georgia Military Academy was founded in 1900 by John Woodward in College Park, a suburb of Atlanta, as an all male preparatory boarding school.
In 1964 it became coeducational and was renamed Woodward Academy in 1966.
The boarding program was discontinued in 1993.
The pendant measures 1-1/4” x 5/8” including the bale.
The front features the GMA eagle and shield.
The back side is stamped with Balfour’s older maker mark and “STERLING”.
Pendant shows the expected wear from a used, vintage piece.
