​Vintage stock certificate number 625 for "The Aero-Marine Locomotive," with a vignette showing the locomotive surrounded by portraits of Robert Fulton and the inventor A. J. Haskins, signed by A. J. Haskins, issued for 500 shares, dated November 25, 1919, 10 3/4 by 8 1/2 inches, in very good condition.  The stock certificate notes that "what Robert Fulton did to the sails and rigging Haskins has done to the hull and propeller."
In 1919, California engineer A. J. Haskins designed a ship with the hull placed on two gigantic reels on which it was claimed to roll over the water at 60 miles per hour, an amazing speed for the time.  The design was impracticable at the time, a fact known to Haskins, which did not stop him from selling stock in his then useless invention.  This certificate was issued to J. J. Ausmus, a San Francisco entrepreneur who typically sold real estate and personal property of any kind on commission.  If there was dollar to be made, Ausmus was a willing participant.  The certificate comes from a collection of Ausmus documents that I recently acquired.
